The Poultry Personnel

Compliments of the day.

Let’s talk about the poultry personnel. How qualified are the personnel employed to take care of the birds? How much do the poultry personnel know about poultry farming to assist their effectiveness and efficiency  in performing the task on the farm?

I have visited some farms to review the operations and procedures at the farm(s), I have  realized from experience that the major challenge of most farms is unqualified personnel burdened with  the task of catering for the farm flock.

I noticed that in a bid to reduce relatively the farm’s operational cost, investor(s) tend to engage just about “anybody” to care for the birds.  Some farm employ people who have no knowledge of poultry farming and provide no training that can help fill the knowledge-gap of the poultry personnel. The unqualified personnel preforms the task while he/she is completely unaware about signs and symptoms from the birds that require urgent attention (to curb occurrences such as disease outbreak).

Engaging unqualified personnel  a serious challenge found impacting on some big farm operations. Either your farm is big or small, the recommendation is to ensure that the personnel engaged have the right training and knowledge to perform the task given.

It is important to employ personnel with adequate knowledge, who are very observant to notice every details about the birds and proactive enough to take necessary actions.

It’s all about poultry on this space. Don’t go away.
